A Bluetooth receiver with an iOS/Android app has considerable advantages over the current IR receiver.

- No visual needed. A train for example, would still be remote controllable even inside a tunnel.
- With an iOS/Android app, a separate physical remote control might no longer be necessary.
- The current limitation of 8 devices would be eliminated. The app would of course need to be able to handle many devices at one time.
- Connecting to a Bluetooth receiver might work by pushing a "connect" button on the receiver, which will allow it to be connected to for a few seconds, similar to the way a wireless keyboard or mouse is connected to the transmitter.
