    Window Tiles

    created by DagsBricks on 2012.02.23

    Main Section
Here is today's self-imposed design challenge. Take the concept of the train windows (panels with glass) and convert that to a horizontal element. As a microbuilder, this would make great sense in a SNOT situation to create even smaller windows than are available.

To the left is the new tile with top cutout. In the middle is the glass that snaps in place. To the right is the complete assembly.

Oh, just use a trans tile? No, not the same.

Standard 1x2 tile is on the left. The top wall is 1.2mm thick. In the middle are seen the two proposed pieces. The modified tile now has a 0.8mm top lip. The glass insert has a lip that is 0.4mm thick. As seen on the picture on the right, there is still clearance over the stud. Because, you know, 0.8mm plus 0.4mm equals 1.2mm.

What is not shown but should be understood is that there will be complementary indents and protrusions on the pieces. The glass should gently snap into place but also be removable.

No, the stud on the 1x2 on the right is not drawn small. The cutaway view is not taken at the exact center of the stud.

The 2x2 version as requested by user dreadbaron. My only hangup in not including this earlier was the lack of a center tube.
