This log loader is the next installment in my Logging Crew theme. A log loader is basically a large wheel loader with the bucket tool replaced by a logging grapple fork. These loaders can be large -- large enough to unload an entire truckload or rail car load in a single pass.
This model was inspired by the Cat 988H loader. It relies heavily on Technic parts to give it its functionality and strength. Like all of the models in my Logging Crew theme (see the
Skidder and Forwarder, the
Tracked Harvester, and the
Logging Truck), this one is highly functional. The bucket arms can be moved up and down, the grapple fork can be tilted forward or backward, and the grapple can be opened or closed. In addition, the loader has working articulated steering. All of these functions have simulated hydraulic rams, including the steering (there is a friction ram on either side of the center hitch pin).
