Stakeside Delivery Truck with Liftgate

Main Section

I don't know of any existing LEGO set that contains a truck with a liftgate. I haven't even seen any MOCs with one, so I decided to create one. I figured that a stakeside liftgate truck would make a pretty good addition to any LEGO city.

This model is based very loosely on a cab-over Isuzu flatbed delivery truck. I decided to use compressed gas cannisters for the cargo, since I often see these trucks carrying that kind of payload on my way to work.

Below is another look at the truck with the liftgate still in its stowed position. You can get a better look at the gas cannisters and the dolly from this angle.

In the next picture, the driver has unfolded the liftgate and has moved some cargo onto it.

Finally, the driver lowers the liftgate to the ground. He's ready to unload the cargo.

One detail that I forgot to mention when I first published this idea is that I have tried to pay at least a little bit of attention to the undercarriage, which is normally just a bunch of structural bricks in models of this scale. The picture below shows how I've tried to model (at a rudimentary level) a driveshaft and rear differential.
