This should be the next logic step after the uneven technic axles (5, 7 and 9) and the 1x3 tile. LEGO should produce a 1x5 plate and brick!
OK, you can make these using 1x1 and 1x4 or 1x2 and 1x3 but in many occasions the model in which you are using these parts instead of this new 1x5 version would be more unstable. Using a 1x5 makes it more sturdy and playable!
Following this perhaps we can even think about a 1x5 tile?
