    Captain Future COMET

    created by JGREEN on 2012.09.18

    Main Section
I always wanted to build the Future Comet big enough to hold mini figures.. and I thought this could be a model others (old and new Captain Future fans) may want to build too.

Captain Future is an anime series of the 80s based on books of Edmond Hamilton. He and his crew Otho, Grag, and Simon Wright are always dedicated to help other people and face various enemies. Their ship is called "Comet". The series was very popular in Europe and was called "Capitaine Flam" in France and "Capitan Futuro" in Italy and Spain.

The model is 73cm (29 inches) long, 38cm (15 inches) wide and 35cm (14inces) high.

    Update:
The cockpit section now holds four mini figures.

    Update2:
I built a small Cosmoliner prototype which could fit into the hangar section. (See next picture) The cockpit is still in the works. All Star Wars cockpits either don't fit or don't look good enough. :-(

BTW: Captain Future may make its way to the movie theaters! A film adaption is in the works by Christian Alvart. Woohoo!

The stand supports the wings and the long rear section of the model. The famous "F" logo could be made as an mosaic of 1x1 and 1x2 plates which could be attached to the stand.

At first I wanted the Cosmoliner (a small one person ship which is transported in a hangar in the rear section of the Comet) to fit into the rear section, but then I decided to leave it out because I had no space (and not the bricks to keep the stability and the room) But I think it could be done and would be really cool. Maybe the cockpit section of the available TIE Fighter could be used.

Not the whole Future crew, but you get the picture how they could look like. I am still working on the robot Grag, but I am not pleased with his head. Currently I have Otto (Otho), Joan Landor and Captain Future. The next step is to find out how to build Professor Simon that small. (The brain of Professor Simon Wright was transferred into an artificial floating case, so its relatively small compared to the other mini figures.)

Also the little pets of Otto and Grag (Yiek and Oak) would be interesting.

The cockpit can be opened and has space for four mini figures. Two in the "front" and two in the "rear" part of the cockpit.

The "wing" section was a problem. The section is stable now (although the wings can move a bit) Maybe there are some technic bricks which could be used..

The white 4x4 cones on the wing tips should be transparent blue to match the "bulb" like appearance of the wing tips of the "real" Comet.

I think this could be a very interesting model.
Imagine a package showing the Comet, the Cosmoliner and the crew...
Please support this model so that new and old Future Fans can build the ship of their 80s hero.
