    LEGO World of Football (soccer)

    created by PhilLUFC on 2012.09.24

    Main Section
LEGO World of Football is a remake of the classic football game "Sensible World of Soccer" (SWOS), original graphics style is ideal for LEGO men and original game play (using the 95/96 Amiga coding as was done for the most recent release on XBOX Live) is both simple and addictive. Numerous attempts to relaunch the series have failed but LEGO branding would be a perfect fit for an as original gameplay release.

    Game Features:
Covers as many teams in as many leagues as possible
Very simple player stats model negating the need for endless research
Limited player appearance options based on standard LEGO hair styles/colours
kit choice options limited to: plain, striped, hooped, halved, quartered and different colour sleeves, short colour and sock colour.
22 man squads for every team.
The original had 26,000+ players in 1,500 odd teams in 150 competitions, the plan would be to replicate as much as possible.
An online feature could massively enhance the experience, although this would be a first (I believe) to the LEGO gaming series.
Simple 8 directional control with one button (tap for pass, hold for shoot). After touch for swerve & height adjustments.

    Problems:
Copyright: Unsure on the current ownership of the source code, hopefully its free given the age of the original game but if not, a link up with Codemasters would likely be required. With a bit of luck, they only own the name, which would not be required here.

Football Licensing: This could be avoided by keeping team names generic and the whole game void of club/competition branding without detracting from the game. Full editability of player appearance, club strips, competition names etc could further mitigate this as an issue.

If successful, the next steps could be in a couple of directions:
Expand the LEGO Sporting Universe: eg Tennis, Basketball, Golf.
Explore additional opportunities with old Sensible Software game: eg Cannon Fodder.

Perfect for LEGO's trademark humour in cut scene's for events such as cards and goal celebrations.

This is a sample of 4 different team editing screens. It also highlights the low level of licensing required:
Team names are just place names, no extensions
Team crests and Sponsors are basic shapes rather than licensed
    Player names are surname only

Fully editable so that the fan community can modify almost anything.
