The Chrysler Building is one of New York's most recognizable icons. It is a masterpiece of architecture and art deco style, brought to life amid a race to be the tallest in the world. It held the title for 11 months before being surpassed by the Empire State Building. The shining Nirosta stainless steel roof and spire make the building unique amongst it's neighbors and outclasses them on a daily basis.
Sadly it is William Van Allen's only skyscraper, but it is a testament to his skill and talent that it became the tallest even for such a short time. Van Allen's former partner Craig Severence was building 40 Wall St, a structure more classical in ornamentation, yet no less grand in ambition and scale. Van allen kept reworking the designs even as they were building to gain more height. The spire was hidden in the roof until it was raised in one day to surpass the height of 40 Wall (now a Trump owned building) and claim victory, however short lived.
This model design focuses on the overall form, and the original structure's most defining feature, the roof and spire.
