You can vote for any of these sets totally for free, just by pressing the green buttons at the top of the pages! Perfectly simple and free! Lego Cuusoo is a new experimental crowdsourcing platform where people can vote for their favorite ideas, simply to send a signal to Lego HQ about what kinds of sets they want to see in real life in the future... So you never have to buy anything!
Just Have Fun! =D
THE CREATOR'S NOTES:
These sets have been in the making for 36 years now. In sum, this is the fruit of the input of over a hundred archaeologists, scientists, and historians from six continents, most of whom have 4-to-8-year-olds of their own now. And when they see this, all of them are all asking the exact same question... "Why hasn't Lego done this years ago?!"
You can see the Flickr slideshow
of hi-res images and concept art for the whole series.
I designed this to be an Ultimate Collector's Series (UCS) set, right between the $250 to $300 mark, giving you the ability to build all of the alternate models you see on the whole page. I planned it within that limit so they could easily sell this on the shelf at the LEGO Store and on their web site... but if you want, you can vote to make it bigger or smaller when you click to support!
All of the temples and all of the fortifications in the entire series can come apart into neat modular sections, based on an 8x8 grid... And so they can all be rearranged in multiple ways, they can all be expanded and redesigned easily, and they can all be connected together for maximum modular possibilities!
The mortal minifigs in this set were specially chosen to play a Classical game of Chess with Greeks versus Romans. Along with the kings and queens, the senators and philosophers can play as the chess-bishops, the centurions and hoplites can play as the chess-knights, and the columns can function as lovely brick-built rooks in all four corners. The three pairs of Greco-Roman deities can step in and play as alternate kings and queens for either the Greek or the Roman side, plus they can come into play whenever a pawn gets promoted by reaching end of the board!
