LET'S DO MORE WITH LEGO POWER FUNCTIONS!
The idea is to create a small and versatile Lego Power Functions hub that can be programmed and connected to a Smart phone (iPhone and Android), tablet or PC/Mac using Bluetooth. Similar to Lego NXT Brick but smaller and focused on Lego Power Functions.
I call it PF-hub. It works as a connection hub between different Power Functions. The PF-hub can be small and control up to 8 PF motors at the same time because is can send IR signals on all 4 channels.
It can have four inputs/outputs to connect Power Functions Motors and Lego WeDo Sensors to. You should also be able to connect IR receivers so the PF-hub can be controlled by the Lego Power Functions IR Remote Controls. So you can for instance use your IR Remote to control a fully automated gearbox.
I am trying to build this hub at home. I use a TinyDuino board. It is still a beta of a beta-test. TinyDuino is a very small Arduino board. Arduino is a open-source electronics prototyping platform. This makes it possible to create a very large open source community writing own programs. It would be great if the Arduino board can be programmed with Lego NXT-G/Wedo
I hope you like the idea! Please leave comments so I can improve it!
