POLL: It's been suggested that this project might be more successful if I were to add military units to the current set. I'd love to hear your thoughts on the matter. PLEASE leave a comment, I'd be most grateful!
I had the idea for these fellas a little while ago, and they've been in development for ages, but I've finally gotten them to a point where I'm entirely happy with them. Well, mostly! Their design was based on a few basic ideas, but simplicity of form was the primary concept. I wanted something that looked chunky and cute. I also wanted to produce something that I felt wouldn't feel out of place on a LEGO store shelf.
The Blockhead Mecha were the result of my exploration of all these themes. More images can be found here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/rg-b/sets/72157627815377758/
Hope you love 'em as much as I do!
Here's what The Brothers Brick said about these MOCs back in July 2011 "I can only hope that the construction equipment of the future will resemble these adorable robots by Paul Evans. These things are covered in details to love. The face offers us a tiny grin, and fascinating asymmetrical eyes. The exhaust stack built into the back of an arm looks nice, and harkens to present day construction equipment. Meanwhile, the bulldozer blade is just that, a perfect example of a brick-built blade, rather than one of the many prefab options out there." - http://www.brothers-brick.com/2011/07/15/the-future-of-construction/
