    Château d'Arbre

    created by matthewcopel on 2012.01.27

    Main Section
Château d'Arbre is a unique castle built around an oak tree. It features an intricate arched maple trellis and cobblestone path that lead to the vestibule, double turrets to the front and single turret in back with opposing branching towers, two open terraces in the back, and an ample front-facing second-story patio to enjoy the view.

Château d'Arbre is a welcomed enrichment to the Miniature Collectibles: Homes theme.

And needless to say as with all of these miniature homes, it's compatible with LEGO Games like Heroica.

The current build is 1054 bricks, but has not been optimized so it could probably be reduced to around 800-900. 20x18 footprint.

Update 10/21/12 - Only 45% of the pieces required to build this model are available in the colors depicted here. Hence, I can not build a replica using real LEGO bricks.

    Above (clockwise from top right):

A stone balustrade graces the second-story patio. Starbursts line the rear turret entry. The oak tree has grown into the castle and actually wraps around the front turret and branches peek out from the other side.

Three ornamental roof peaks add appeal to the skyline.

Arched trellis leads to entry way between front turrets.

Above: (left) The castle features oblique branching towers. (right) A wall of windows is crowned by a steep ascension to the gable ornament, showing evidence that the roof has been patched over the years.

Above: (lower left) Here, the back entrance and two balconies are shown, as well as some detail of the hanging ornamentation on the small oblique branching tower. (center top) A custom-designed, curved picture window faces outward at 45° from below the patio. (lower right) Two elegant pointed archways above lower balcony are mostly visible in this rendering. A sculpted stone border rests atop a long picture window.
